Piazza SignoriaStarting in one of Florence’s most beautiful and picturesque squares, the Piazza della Signoria, we will set the scene as you learn about Florence at the height of its glory at the time the David was sculpted. The political situation and the group of artists at work in the city during this period make for a story that will leave you gasping for more. It is in this square where a copy of the David stands in the place of where the original used to be.
David's JourneyWe will then wander along the cobbled streets as the guide continues to fill you with interesting information, fun facts and stories, and draw to your attention to relevant points of interest that we see. As well as passing the Orsanmichele church, and seeing a statue that is said to have inspired Michelangelo’s David, we will stop at the place where Michelangelo sculpted the David and where the sculpture was originally supposed to be positioned on the Florence Duomo.
